Signing in to Kyle

Kyle asks you to sign in with Apple before anything else. One tap, Face ID or Touch ID, and you're in. That sign-in creates your Kyle account — or, if you already have one, finds it.

You can tap Skip for now instead. Kyle still works: you get an account, your notes sync, and nothing is locked. The only things that wait until you sign in are connecting an AI and using Kyle on a second device.

Go to Settings → Connect to AI, or tap the Connect to AI card in your notes. The first step is Sign in with Apple. Everything you've written on this device stays exactly where it is; signing in just attaches your Apple ID to the account you've been using.

Install Kyle on your iPad or Mac and sign in with the same Apple ID. The new device joins your existing account and your notes appear. This works even when iCloud Keychain is off — on a work Mac, say — because the sign-in itself is what finds the account.

If you used the new device for a while before signing in and made notes there, Kyle asks what to do with them: move them into your account (they land in the Inbox), discard them, or keep the device separate. Move is the default and the right answer almost every time.

When you connect Claude, it asks you to sign in to Kyle in the browser. Use the same Apple ID you signed into the app with — that's how Claude finds your notes rather than somebody else's. No key to copy, nothing to paste but a plain URL.

Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code, and other clients use a private URL with your key built in. Kyle shows it only after you've signed in, so every connected account can be recovered if you lose your phone.

Choosing Hide My Email when you sign in with Apple is fine. Kyle identifies you by Apple's stable identifier, not by the relay address, so the app, your other devices, and Claude's sign-in page all line up.

One thing to know: on Claude's sign-in page, use the Sign in with Apple button rather than the email-code option. The email option would need the relay address Apple gave you, which you probably don't know.

In Connect to AI, choose Continue with email. Kyle sends a six-character code; enter it and your email is attached to the account. Use this if you'd rather not use Apple ID.

It does the same job for recovery and for Claude's sign-in page (choose the email option there and enter the same address).

Sign in with Apple on the new device — your account and notes come back. If you attached an email, Settings → Recover Account sends a code to it instead.

If you skipped sign-in and never attached an email, there is nothing for Kyle to find the account with. That is the one reason to sign in even if you never connect an AI.

Signing in with Apple gives Kyle an identifier and, if you allow it, your email. Nothing else from your Apple account.

Connecting an AI lets that AI read, create, and edit the notes and tasks in your Kyle account, and anything it writes appears in the app. Nothing else on your device is shared. Kyle asks you to confirm this once before showing any connection details.

You can delete your account and everything in it from Settings at any time.
